WATER MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Benefits Of Hiring A Certified Water Manager
Certified professionals can help you Save Gallons of Money.
The price of water is rising all over California, due to our state’s rapidly increasing population putting more demands on our existing water supplies. Cities and counties are cracking down, issuing new laws and regulations like the state's Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance. This ordinance intended to promote outdoor watering efficiency and reduce runoff. Consumers are begining to see increased water bills and are being levied fines for water waste more than ever before.
CLCA Certified Water Managers have proven they can save water. CLCA Certified Water Managers must pass a written test to become certified, complete an irrigation audit and demonstrate proficiency at required levels for one year on actual landscape sites, prior to achieving full certification status. There are two levels of CLCA Certified Water Managers, Expert and Basic.
Expert-Level: A CLCA Expert Water Manager must pass the written test and manage five properties for one year and continue to manage five properties at or below the water budget established by the CLCA Water Management Performance Program.
Basic-Level: A CLCA Water Manager must pass the written test and manage at least one property for one year and continue to manage a property at or below the landscape water budget established by the CLCA Water Management Performance Program.
Many Californians overwater their landscapes by more than 50 percent. Effective water management is not only good for the pocketbook, it enhances landscapes for greater enjoyment and contributes to higher property values.
Your CLCA Water Manager Can Help:
- Improve your landscape: overwatering leads to weeds, pests, and plant disease.
- Preserve your hardscape: fences, concrete, asphalt, etc. erode faster when subjected to over-spray and runoff.
- Save you money: Water rates just keep going up. Saving water saves money.
